AWS Migration

Image
Cloud has become the new normal as companies. A recent whitepaper by IDC, shows the customers
that migrate to AWS can experience 51% reduced costs of operations, 62% increased IT staff productivity,
and 94% reductions in downtime. AWS is helping thousands of organizations successfully migrate
significant workloads to the cloud. Organizations benefited from substantial IT costs savings, as well as
improvements in productivity, business agility, and operational excellence.

AWS Success Stories

AWS - BIGDATA IMPLEMENTATION FOR A US BASED HARDWARE MANUFACTURER

Overview

A US-based hardware manufacturer wants to integrate all the dataflow of the different departments into a common pool, and the data must be migrated into the AWS-BigData environment due to handle more than 2 Gigabyte of data per day. Initially, the customer was using their in-house solution which was challenging their frequent hardware scalability and was becoming very complex in computing the large datasets in an analytical process.

Our Approach

The customer formed a SME team where we contributed to the core solution and its implementation. As a first step, different types of data flows were identified, and all those channels are integrated to store the data in S3 buckets. Structured, Semi and Unstructured data were handled. Analytical team will analyse the data using AWS-Elastic Map-Reduce (EMR), Presto and NoSQL and store the data in different storages like RedShift and S3. The processed data will be accessed by various applications either directly or through web-services. For example, the Analytical Reporting team was able to access the Management Dashboard from Presto.

Based on the performance and quality of the tools, the team was migrating or upgrading the tools and techniques and implemented some customizations according to the project need.

Conclusion

After implementing this AWS solution, our customer benefited with

Centralised data flow to manage in a better way.

Third-party data sharing becomes easier.

Human efforts reduced by 30%.

AWS - MAGENTO IMPLEMENTATION

Overview

Our UK-based customer had started their online store to sell the cosmetic products 8 years ago. Over the period, their website became popular and got attracted to their quality of products and competitive price. Whenever the new seasonal offer arrives, their site traffic goes beyond their infrastructure threshold, and they require a dedicated technical team to firefight those situations to retain the customer shopping experience which was the key expectation of all online stores in the industry. So, our customer wanted to make their website more scalable to manage the traffic and improve their customer experience through some enterprise solution.

Our Approach

Since Magento has decoupled software components in its architecture, we analysed those components and carefully chosen the relevant cloud services from AWS. Please find the table which lists the Magento components and our chosen AWS services.
After the solution was developed and tested, it was deployed in production within two months. The results of the initial deployment days were quite good. After the free maintenance period, the customer team was trained to manage the infrastructure through Cloud Watch.
A two-member team was deployed to analyse, implement and test the solution and provided with a
30-day free maintenance period to monitor the environment and knowledge transfer process.

Conclusion

After implementing this AWS solution

The website responded well in high traffic situations.

The costing was under control.

The team size was reduced to 50%.

AWS - DEVOPS IMPLEMENTATION

Overview

Our US-based start-up wants to migrate their in-house Continuous Integration (CI) Environment into AWS
DevOps Environment. Since it was their custom-made private CI environment, while scaling the environment with more projects and users, the knowledge investment on custom tools and cost maintenance are high. The customer wants to have a scalable and effectively manageable solution for their better delivery services.

Our Approach

We had deployed a two-member team to analyse, implement and test the AWS based DevOps environment. Our approach was consisting of three phases. Please find the table which contains the tools used in the DevOps Implementation and the relevant usage.

Phase Zero

Design the DevOps Flow and setup the monitoring system. We had analysed their project nature and identified their build and deployment process. Based on that, we have designed the solution over AWS.

Phase I

Move the deployment environment. As a first step, we had moved the deployment environments which were less risky in the overall workflow.

Phase II

Move the CI/CD Pipeline flows. In this phase, we had created pipelines for their existing on-going projects and connected with the deployment environment.

Phase III

Move the code repositories along with the artifact management system. We took this phase at last to move their current code-base and artifact management system, then connected with the AWS pipeline process. So, the full workflow is moved to AWS without any hassle.

Conclusion

After implementing this AWS solution, our customer benefited with

99% of accuracy in deployment.

50% of team efforts was reduced.

Effective Monitoring.
